Why you must avoid Hot Steam Carpet Cleaning

Carpet cleaning may sound like an easy job of extracting the dirt out of the carpet, but practically, it is a tedious and complex process. There are many things that need to be considered while cleaning the carpet. We often call the professionals to do the cleaning, but sometimes even the professionals make mistakes. One of the most common mistakes made is cleaning a carpet with hot steam. 
Hot steam cleaning is one of the most used cleaning methods but is also one of the ineffective and detrimental cleaning processes. Even though the professional services have now started using different other methods, but as a customer, one must know what is steam cleaning and why it should not follow through. 
Steam Cleaning 
The steam cleaning process uses lots of water. The carpet or rug is put under buckets of hot water along with soapy solutions and chemicals. The soapy solutions and chemicals trap the dirt from the carpet before eventually the water is sucked out. This process can temporarily show results but has many drawbacks. Here are some of the concerns that Steam Cleaning brings. 
Excessive Moisture
The hot steam cleaning introduces moisture to the carpet for cleaning. Yes, the moisture is sucked back, but not all of them. The excessive moisture eventually settles down at the base of the carpet. This could potentially increase the drying time of the carpet. However, there is another drawback of excessive moisture. It attracts and allows the mold and bacteria to settle down in the carpet even after cleaning. Well, that is not what you have signed up for. 
Soap
The basic job of the soapy solution is to trap the dirt and washed away with the water. However, it has been seen that a layer of the soapy solution remains in the carpet even after cleaning and drying. The soaps are fast enough to catch dirt. So, with this process of cleaning, one actually encourages the cleaned carpet to get dirty even faster. This is obviously not something you are expecting. 
Carpet Fibre
The carpet fiber is very delicate and the most important part. However, it is also vulnerable to harsh cleaning and often gets worn out for the poor cleaning process. The hot water with high pressure does exactly the same. Multiple cleaning can actually damage the fiber and it becomes an irrecoverable loss. The high PH solution and harsh chemicals used during the cleaning process also damage the carpet fiber. Basically, multiple hot steam cleaning can reduce the life of the carpet. 
Time 
The drying time of the steam cleaning process is longer than the other processes. The reason behind it is the excessive water used in the cleaning process. The excessive water used also not recommended from an environmental standpoint. 
The dry cleaning or the carbonated cleaning process is slowly overtaking the professional cleaning space. The professionals throughout are trying to ensure the cleaning process that is effective, carpet-friendly, economical, and at the same time quick. Well, the hot steam cleaning does not fit into any of these.
